Tonight I have done my best welding yet.
the first time ive not had to grind the pigen poo of after. Its thin steel that im making the bell housing cover plate out of.Its got full
penertration very little splatter. The bead in the photo looks bigger than it is.....
What do you think? Ill soon be ready to work on a chassis
it does look nice and clean but I'd still suggest you could do with a bit more penetration. the weld looks like its still sitting on top of the
metal, i can't see the sort of webbing effect you should be getting. maybe turn the current up a little? sure someone more qualified will comment
soon
Ned.
Nice and neat, but i would also say that it could do with more penetration (oo err). Either turn the current up a bit, or go a little bit slower...
Getting good
here they call your weld 'to cold'
i think you need to go slower..en up the amps an bit..
while welding, your 'welding bath' needs an bit of time for it to sattle..also it needs to be yellow hot..altough on thin matterial its an
pain the axxe..
but hey whats thin? 5mm?? or 2mm??
2mm isn't thin..
Tks
looks good mate but i agree. Turn the power up a little and/or go a touch slower.
Its not about speed but dam good penetration

Thanks for the coments guys ..As the saying goes "practice makes perfect" and its a long way from that..But it is getting better.Tried
turning the wire down a touch ,the welder didnt want to no.The feed system isnt great (Sip 150 turbo ) when funds allow I may look for a
replacemant..
The steel is 1.4 mm
In my (limited) experience, SIP welders like to stand on a workmate or something and feed wire downhill.
We built 2 chassis with a SIP 105 and it's still going strong! (even welded to axle casing with good penetration)

I made a trolly for it and the bottle which helps
