after many years of faithfull serivce and abuse my poor washing machine has lost its lost sock and removed its last embarising stain,it is dead!
after a brief service it will be dumped with full domestic honours and a 21 gun salute.
i have to look for a new machine,as i know zip about the good bad or ugly of domestic appliances i ask that you spend a few moments in deep thought
and recomend a make to me.
it needs to be simple (i am a man afterall)
cheap
hard working
indistructible.

Cheap and good makes are:
Bosch
Zanusi - (mines 4 years old and still going strong)
Medium to expensive are:
Miele - Should last you forever.
Avoid any spin cycle greater than 1000 on cheaper machines as this shoots the bearings (I was told this by a Hotpoint engineer) and don't put it
in a garage. (worst thing you can do, condensation etc)
Also avoid those fangled computer controlled things as they always go wrong.
Hope this little offering is a comfort in this your saddest time.

Just get a basic model one. We had two Jap makes and they both lasted just long enough for the guarantee to have run out.
Oh yes, and the Bosch has a three year waranty

bosch have a 2 year warrenty, avoid the very cheap one as its not a bosch, its probably a whirlpool.
zanussi are not the company they were, in the last few years have become a bit more unreliable.
LGs are good washers, as are mieles, simens are good too. try to find a siemens or a miele with a 5 year warrenty there are a few on off i think.
sold wahers for a over year, not been selling them for a year a so but i doubt much has changed since

Siemens,it's a bit expencive but consider it as a tool.
Good tools cost money but they will last much longer and can take more abuse.
We have a Philco. Cheap and robust and has been going for years. I don't know what it's like to operate you'd have to ask the missus
as it's girlie stuff. Come to think of it why are we even discussing this on this forum? Let's get back to macho manly things please!

Conrod - I can get very good discounts on Bosch stuff through work and they throw in 5 year warranty I think (maybe longer)
All above board - ie we are allowed to buy for friends.
Not cheap stuff mind, but supposed to be very good!

Bosch are excellent, but expensive. Siemens are made by the same company (at one point in the same factory) but with a few less features, and a
smaller price tag. Both are ultra-reliable, and very high quality.
My plan is to eventually have all the domestic stuff in my house be one or the other.

update,i got a bosch,its so quiet compared to my old one,even has a "non iron"setting,whitch is handy as i dont posses an iron
