feckin pop ups

Hey up guys just updated my PC to XP and keep getting messenger pop ups on AOL,any one know how to turn off messenger, did it on my home PC yonks ago but forgot where the setting is.

Windows 2000:
* Click: Start/Settings/Control Panel
* Open: Administrative Tools
* Open: Services
* Open: 'Messenger' Service
* Click: Stop button
* Change 'Startup Type' to DISABLE
* Click OK to close everything


Windows XP:
* Right-click: 'My Computer' icon and select 'Manager' Or Start> Settings> Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Computer Management.
* Open: Services and Applications
* Open: Services
* Open: 'Messenger' Service
* Click: Stop button
* Change 'Startup Type' to DISABLE
* Click OK to close everything.

Or shoot the mesenger.....

puts a shortcut on your screen to disable or enable it. Only 22k and a quick download.
