I've been looking at my wood stove and the air inlet was rough cast..
So, thought I'd get the dremel and clean them up a bit, smooth the edges up...
Looking at the plate behind that closes the ports its slots are a canny bit bigger.. does anyone know if there's a benefit to porting out the
front slots to match the back plate? EG: will it improve the air flow to the aircut cleaner for the door? Will it make the fire more efficient? Or am
I knocking on it the wrong way thinking it works on engines??
Steve
dear me, i think you should put down the dremel and have a cup of tea!

I thought the idea was to restrict the air-flow to slow down the combustion rate and make the fuel last longer or are you making it into a
smelter.
More air flow, means faster air flow, means more heat going up the chimney.
Stoves are designed to flow enough air to burn fuel efficiently, not hot enough to get the outside of the stove glowing and burn the paint off
Put
down the Dremel and step away from the stove
