Done the search and know that mini, MG and rover wiper arms will work for us. But what WON'T work? None of these are cheaply available where I live. I am aware that cutting them down may be necessary, but I'm concerned about fitting the wheelbox end.

They might not cheep - But surly you have the landrover over there ? have you tried that ?

they are the same as the mini one but with a 110 deg sweep IIrc.

I think the costs would surprise you: cheaper to buy brand new MG and there are not enough of the LandRovers to make it to the scrappies. Remember, North Americans generally drive North American cars. Lots of Chev Cavaliers though... But they have huge windshields.

The reason we use the 'Mini' type over here is because it uses tube and tothed inner rod this powers the wipper boxses.

It is therefore very easy to shorten / bend the tube to get the Wheel boxses in the right place so that the wipers sweep the correct part of the screen.

Not sure of any other car that still uses the tube and wheelbox arrangement.

classic vw beetle mechanism? simple and indestructible, quite cheap second hand, also used on buggys like mine and screens much the same size as a 7's. Quieter than the landy type cable drive system.

military land rover arms have a lever ratchet mechanism that can be used to adjust the length of the arm. kinda hard to explain without pictures.

the long thin metal strip between the arm and wiper blade can be slid into the arm, then once the lever is closed, it grips the arm..

This means no welding is required.

Note that some arms are rivetted hence no adjustment.

£ 4 dunno, what postage would be. check they are the military adjustable length tyte though, seem too cheap to be them.

The 'british' type design are now made in china so should be freely available. Once you are familiar wit the internals they can be made to park either side. The throw cog can be changed (alternatives can be purchased separately) and the ratios of the wheel boxes can be changed too. Also the length of the shaft of the wheel boxes are available in lots of lengths. Common copper plumbing microbore can be used as bundy pipe etc.etc.
But you can go faster without a windscreen!

True but not if it won't get on the road, which it won't in my province sans windscreen.
