Okay cosmetic detail isn't my strong point and I was wondering about the boot cover thing. I've a piece of ply covered in black material that I'm going to bolt to the top of the rear panel. Should I use stainless dome heads and leave the heads showing or put them in little black number plate type covers?
depends how picky your SVA man is. I had 6 mmm dome heads on my steering wheel. He said the hex constituted a non-radiused edge!
A few people are fitting these, would make a neat alternative.

Yeah I don't like them though. Remind me too much of clamsheel wings and spare wheels strapped to the back.
Thought of a soft cover? I'm really pleased with mine. Only £30 ish and looks really good.
6mm plywood panel cut to shape and fitted with a hinged, lockable access panel. Covered in black vinyl and secured with M6 stainless dome socket caps for me - no problems at SVA either.
Mines same as yours then Nick and same colour body too.
