I have a had a bonnet, wings and bumnper sprayed on the cheap and its not the best, its fine for what i wanted but it looks like its got some dust on the paint and its a little rough to tough i places.

Is there anyting i can do to smooth it out?

It was 'basecoat' then laquer if that makes any differnce?
the wings are fine its just the bonnet as its been lying flat when drying.

Its not worth complaining given what i paid to have them done.

I always use Commandant Cleaner no. 4 to polish out dust and 'orange skin' (is that an english word?). This is some kind of polishing paste. Also use to revive 'dead' paint.

Sorry, but I don't know they sell (branded?) products in the UK. I cant find an English website either. Hope this is helpful anyway.

If the dust is in the lacquer then just use some Tcut to polish them out

If I was you I would wet flat with 1200 paper then give it a good polish. be careful around the edges though if there is only a thin coat of laquer you will go through it!!

2000 W&D is what we use to flat out orange peel. 1200 is too coarse. It's perfectly normal to do this de-nibbing. Sounds like they have left it as a 'gun finish' as it was a cheap job.

It will take you a while to go through with 2000, except at the edges. Make sure you have a good block to wrap it round. The cork sanding blocks in DIY places work well and cost peanuts. Lots off light strokes, a waterspray with some Fairy liquid mixed in will get the best finish, plus stop and check / dry the surface regualary. You want to get it all looking the same even matt look.

You'll need to machine polish it afterwards with Farecla G3 or G10 to get the full shine back though.
