made my bonnet
chris_smith - 22/2/09 at 06:30 PM

got some aluminium last week and so made my own bonnet
haven't fastened it to the car yet, and i think its a good attempt for my first one

my question is do i polish it and leave as is or paint it the same as im going to paint the fibreglass parts, a sort of light blue?

also a pic of my rear lid, do i paint this leave it ali, or cover it with vinyl like the dash?

your opinions do count

cheers
chris

Looks a nice snug fit.
I'd paint it if it was me ( I did mine)
Just remember to use an etch primer first

that looks a good job well done.

I too would paint it.

Chris, you've made a lovely job of the bonnet, I'm sure you're really delighted with the result. I've got that job to do and if I can achieve your standard, I shall be well pleased.

Personally, I'd polish it

Nice job btw, what did you use to get the bends? We used a lamp post :/

There's merits to both, i prefer paint though, looks more finished. Leaving the sides polished and painting nose, wings, rear and bonnet looks nice.

I did see one guy on here (i forget who) who'd made an ally nose and polished absolutely everything. Looked seriously nice, wouldn't want to be too near it on a sunny day though.

I'd leave them both in Aluminium.
