I painted my car in celluose but it went orange peely so ive flated back with 800 grit and are going to put a couple of coats on. How can i prevent orange peel? My gun was set at 35psi, What ratio of thinners to paint do i need to use? and how long should i leave it between coats?
for the final coat I use 25% paint which gives a good shine, prior to this I would be using 45% 55% paint to thinners, reducing paint ratio as coats build up
I have always started 50/50 or there abouts. 35psi sounds low to me, but I play until I am happy with the pressure (and I don't have a gun
mounted gauge, only on the compressor)
Use an excellent topcoat thinners, best you can get. And I keep the gun about 12" from the panel.....
And as above, after a few coats (I do double coats with 10min between each, then leave for a while, plus exrta coats on edges where paint can get
polished through
)I start thinning the paint more until the final coat may be just 10% paint...do this by topping up the gun with just thinners when
it is 1/2 empty.
