As I now have the rear struts going where the boot was I need to make a boot lid top,what's the best material to use? Where to buy it from ect, pics are always good

Funds are tight at mo :-( so looking for a locost version/something to cover ect.

Hi, interested in your topic. We are trying to figure out best way of altering standard MK Indy roll hoop to meet RAC motorsport hillclimb and sprint regulations. Is that what you have done?

Our car is currently dismantled following repairs to a snapped chassis rail so now would be a good time to upgrade the roll hoop. The current thin rear bars only go to flimsey upright at the top of the boot lip. Have you taken down to the rear corner of chassis rails? Problem is there is not much back there of any strength to fit to.

Thats very helpful. Especially the base of the rear legs. That is what we had in mind and others seem to have done.

This is how I did mine. The middle section is removable to access the boot.

Nice one David thanks,neat job there.

Im working on a bootlid cover, not finished yet but soon.
I'm only missing the inner brackets and the dzus locks but they are ordered.
On the picture the front corner is missing, it has to be removable due to the rollbar.

I also made a top from aluminium, not to different from DavidMīs. You can see it in the photo archive under "Hasse" . Also used aluminium to form a "boot compartment" on top of the tank.

Mines the same as David's (just not quite so neat and posh )

Thanks guys,next question where's the cheapest place to get sheet aluminium from? Im in Worthing west Sussex.

It doesn't need much. The cheapest place would be to ask around local sheet metal companies or stockholders for some offcuts. They may well have pieces large enough going in the skip.

Lots of companies sell their offcuts on ebay so that can be a good option (i think thats where I got mine from).
