Door to body scuff protection.

Having recently made some doors and very happy with them, one thing has come to light however.

A drive over to the car club last night has resulted in a lot of scratches and marks from where the doors are rubbing on the bodywork, mainly the rear arch areas, what have you used to protect the areas prone to such damage ?, I am just going to stick some tape over the areas for now, but could do with a better solution...

Have a look for helicopter tape or millionaire tape, it's used on the leading edges of rota blades and comes in clear

As you can guess by the name it's not cheap but is amazing stuff

£16 didn't sound too bad. Then I noticed that was per metre...

Yup, some kind of paint protection film. I use the cheap stuff for exactly that purpose on mine and it is holding up reasonably well. Easy to put on as well using a bit of soapy water.

something like this maybe? ã€CLEAR】1.52 Meter x 0.5 Meter Car Paint Protection Film Vinyl Wrap | eBay

Thanks folks, been away so only just read up.

I ended up using some stick-on Velcro (20mm strip). This not only serves the purpose well but also stops the door flying open when I forget to fasten the dam thing...., actually the Velcro does a better job than my strap affair does, Hmmmmm.
