I've been pondering what to use on my J15 for a while now...It would be interesting to see any pics of anyone has of similar type cars (Fury, J15, XTR2, Radical, Spire, etc, etc).....I've looked at the aerocatch but this does not pull the bodywork down which is ideally what is wanted. the newer aerocatch3 looks good, but is an eye watering £90 for two (and I need 4), and certinly did not budget £180 for clam latches.

Would prefer not to have anything stuck out if possible, but not the end of the world if it is....must be IVA friendly.

Any opinions / pics would be useful.

Didn't Jeremy use springs attached inside the wheel arch?

You can just see the cap heads in some of the pictures.

On the new Vectis he seems to be using the flat rubber ones.

He did use springs, and this is still an option, but I can't help thinking something that locks the bodywork into the same position may be more secure, and keep the alignment better.

My front clam drops down onto locating pins then secures with fairing screws. I'm not a great fan of the screws but the body was moulded that way with a recess for the washer part. To be honest it works well, just a bit of a faff to open it up.

I would vote Aero Catches fabulous devices in combination with TR3? rubber alignment cones.

I used aerocatches on the front, mounted on the vertical face of the bonnet, with a passive central support. At the back, which is the dangerous end in terms of fastener failure, I used rubber IVA over centre latches behind the headrests and quarter turn fasteners recessed in the wing return.

You have to reach inside the rear clamshell to undo these but they are rock solid.

I don't think that I've seen a great solution yet. Aerocatch 3's do look good and I would be tempted to bite the bullet and stump up the cash!

Aerocatches come in pairs, so unless you need 8 individual catches (why?) It would only be £60, as they regularly come up on ebay for about £30.

Loggyboy...the aerocatch 3 is a different design that clamps rather than uses a pin.....cheapest I could see for two of these was £90!.

I think I'm going to go with the aerocatch.......

As an update (and maybe a hard learnt lesson) to this thread...............

I did end up going with the aerocatches...but...in my infinate wisdom decided on the the apparent cheap chinese copies. Needless to say, this broke quickly after installation. that was a waste of £18 (lesson learnt)....The good news was, as they were clearly copies of the aerocatch, I ordered original aerocatches and they fitted in the hole :-) - Much nicer engineered and action.
