Whos fiberglass body kits come with a nice 'n' low bonnet line?
I gather that some manufactures body kits come with an inch or so higher bonnet lines for taller engines like pintos.
I have a X-flow and want a low bonnet line to suit the low engine, having an air filter poking through the bonnet is not a worry to me.
Also can ST rear wings be used on a book chassis without modification. Could you just not put the curved steel strips on the chassis?
this is mk bodywork on a book chassis

My car has ST rear wings, you are correct about leaving off the curved strips.
The wings fitted ok but did require a bit of fiddling to get right.

Try GTS tuning, the Locost body they do is nice and slimline and suits the x flow better than the pinto
GTS seams good but the six peice kit online costs £355. Not bad value hoever listed individally
GTS nose cone £80
GTS front wings £54
GTS rear wings £89
GTS scuttle £80
Total £303
Thats £52 less than for the kit.
This is exactly the hunt i'm doing at the moment....
I talked to the MK boys at stafford and there nose cone is 8" from the chassis rails at the bonnet end. I measured a Stuart Taylor one at around
17cm (6.5"
.
Can anyone else add in any sizes or confirm the ones i've given?
(Phil M - when did you get your MK GRP? If it was a while ago it might explain things as i believe they changed the GRP when they started doing the
Indy and thats what they'll supply now).

GTS Locost nose thru to bonnet height will have the air filter(Std carbie) on a x flow sticking out the top so with side draughts you get cleaner lines....all on std sump pan as per Locost race regs
Do you have any measurements of the height to compared with the other suppliers ?
Also is it possible to collect the stuff from you (assuming your still in northampton) instead of going to darrens?
Hmmm strange, i'll give him a nudge in the direction of this thread!

Either its probibly a typo on the website or something like the front wings are sold individadly, its not clear about whether there a pair or not but
does refer to them as 'wings' which is pleural.

Wings are pairs.
Cock up on pricing is with the individual parts not the kits, so get in quick as i'll be changing the prices to make the kits cheaper than the
sum of the individual parts.
Anyone wishing to collect from Northampton is probably welcome to do so, but, obviously order details need to come through GTS, and stipulate that you
want to collect so we can make arrangements.
Kind regards,
Darren

I actually asked them about the "book" chassis and they did confirm that they are making them again and the GRP does fit the book
chassis.
I would just prefer a lower profile like the stuart taylor if i can so come on darren, how high is your nose?
I think you'd struggle to get a lower profile than the MK gear. My book chassis carries MK bodywork, even the fibreglass rear panel. The scuttle
initially looks tall, but it has a step of about 1 inch, lowering the bonnet line.
With 3 1/2" under the sump to the road, I can't fit the auto choke under the bonnet, had to convert to manual.

Individual parts getting more expensive i seem to remember him saying to me earlier!
mike r --referring to my attached pic of mk bodywork --it is from an indy, with the nose cone being 8inches from the horizontal plane . ie it is
current.
Phil

heck, then stuart taylors stuff is low!!!!
I'm going to measure a mates Luego soon and i'll post that up here. Hopefully Darren can give us his size as well then we'll have them
all!
(MNR won't sell on as they said at stafford there GRP is made for there chassis and its too modified from the book chassis for it to fit)
GTS Locost noscone is about as low as you can go ........off the top of my head it's 8" in centre of nosecone tapering down from 10" at
the scuttle.
But i will measure tomorrow to make sure.
Mark
Cheers Mark, that tallys with the MK nose (although I've got it in my head that MK might have been 11" at the scuttle) & explains the
comment on darrens site about it can replace the MK GRP.
hmmm, decisions decisions. going to remeasure the Stuart Taylor to make sure it was 17cm as well.
Wasn't my ST 6" from top of chassis to underside of highest part of nose Mike, did you write it down this time?!?
