Not sure if this should go in here or not seeing as its not about a locost!

My car has a few stonechips on the bonnet and a couple of them are down to the metal and there is a very small (pin head) amount of surface rust on a few of them.

The paint is non metallic and i am wondering how best to 'kill' or remove the rust in such a small area and then how best to 'touch it up' for the best finish without going to the expense of getting the bonnet blown over by a spray shop.

Any tried and tested ideas would be appreciated because the car is in really good nick otherwise.

Best method I've used is as follows.
With a drop of T Cut on a cloth clean the area lightly to take off any polish etc.
Very carefully, using light pressure in a scraping motion remove local rust spot with a small jewellers screwdrivers.
If you try & use wet & dry etc you just end up messing up a larger area.
Try & get the damaged area as level as possible, by this I mean if it is on the curved front edge of the bonnet, trig the bonnet open to get it level.
Next shake the paint up and place a drop of paint into the chip from a pin, or a very small artists paint brush, pin is best.
Brush that comes with touch up is way to big.
Wait for it to dry slightly - it will shrink a bit, repeat until level or slightly proud.
Leave it for a week then use T Cut if req'd to blend in.
Looks better than spray can.
Can also be used for metallic, use same technique to apply drop of clear laquer, but dont T Cut after.
