Pretty soon I will be installing a rear-view window into my GT2. It will be going into a flat firewall panel and I am unsure of the best way to do it.
Is there a specialist moulding to put a flat panel or do I have to make a rebate for it?

You should be able to fit it with standard rubber "h-channel" as used for Mini windscreen seals.

The automotive stuff is available (as pre-cut strips to fit Mini's from automotive suppliers) or you should be able to find a wide variety of sizes by the foot from industrial supply houses as machine tool builders use it to install windows in all sorts of cabinets.

If you have a choice, go with EPDM with is heat, oil and UV resistant.

It's not cheap stuff though, but you can get it from AutoWindscreens. Try van rear windows for size if you can find any. I've fitted rear windows in van doors and pickups for the bro-in-law when his van tools got robbed. Get 1/2" more than you think you need and put the join in the middle of the seal at the bottom and the expander strip at the top. Don't be too timid and when you've fitted it go round the seal with the rubber hammer to seat it.

The shape will certainly be non-standard (dictated by the shape of the rear bulkhead) and I will have to resort to plexyglass or similar material. The H section would indeed be my best bet as it should look good from both sides.
I'll have a look at some Mini sites and see what they have to offer.
