Can any of you lot tell me is there any reason that a flat windscreen cannot be used?

Also if it's ok to use a flat windscreen where would I go about obtaining one?

Yep - go see the mangoman. fitted one of his screens last week (to std. locost not mk) and its a peach. superb quality and craftsmanship and fits like the proverbial glove. have been meaning to post to sing its praises all week and will do so properly with pics and all soon.
came in hardcore wooden box to prevent breakage and price includes p+p. cant ask for more.
