Aluminium sheeting costs
Gav - 28/10/05 at 11:30 AM

Just rang my local merchant and he wanted £45 for a 1.5mm thick sheet and £90 for a 2mm thick sheet based on 2 sheets of 1.5 and 1 sheet of 2mm, think the sheets were 2000m x 1500m.

Is this a good price? seems rather expensive to me but then again ive only bought steel before.

Cheaper than i was quoted 2 years ago!

Dunno about the 2mm, but the 1.5 is the same price as we paid over a year ago

Think ill go for the 1.5 and just use steel 18g for the floor rather than ally then, ill just have to eat less takeaways to make up forthe weight difference

but look on the bright side, the steel floor will become part of the car structure, the weight is low down helping handling and .... it has more puncture resistance than the aluminium (although not sure how much if you're going up to 2mm ali)

I have 6 sheets of 3mm x 1000 x 2000 ali for £40 each if anyone is interested.

Aberdeen Specialist welders were selling me sheets of ally for £25 Think he prob just added a tenner onto what he paid and then said cash!! Guess I got lucky then! Oli.
