Who's got mine
scoop - 19/1/06 at 03:23 PM

GTS are telling me my bonnet and scuttle panel have gone to someone in Lanacshire, Scotland and they cant contact him to get them back. Its been a month. If you didnt pay for them and you keep them thats theft. If you are on here sort it out please

ned - 19/1/06 at 03:38 PM

If you've paid for goods and not received them I'd suggest you take it up with Darren rather than venting your frustrations on the board - if someone hasn't come clean in a month it seems they're unlikely to now!

Did you pay be credit card? if so you could do a chargeback by contacting your credit card company for goods not received.

It seems odd that after an administrative error the manufacturer/supplier is asking you to chase your own goods that have been misdelivered due to their administrative error?!

Ned.

shortie - 19/1/06 at 03:39 PM

Oh no! surely it can't be another customer service issue with GTS!!!

zxrlocost - 19/1/06 at 03:49 PM

this is great people like darren who seem to have no end of business yet give such a poor service but A load of people stick up for him even when hes given them a bad service

where I used to work this one chap was an absolute wanka he looked like a girlie boy yet even the people he was rude to would fall over themselves to help him

its a weird world

shortie - 19/1/06 at 03:56 PM

Quite franky it's GTS' problem not you the customer, if you paid for goods and didn't get them then they need to refund your money or resend the goods. Like Ned said if you paid credit card get the credit card company to deal with it.

Why people still buy from GTS is beyond me given the number of complaints that are regularly posted on here.

scoop - 19/1/06 at 04:01 PM

Ned. Dont tell me what to do.
I paid Paypal straight off the web site. Big mistake.Have you tried to contact Darren!!
Shortie-dont go there mate.
ZXR-You are right.
Darren says he is sorting this out but i ordered them at the end of October for christ sake

Good luck with your case!

shortie - 19/1/06 at 04:16 PM

Seriously mate, you are not alone having issues with GTS, did Darren tell you the name of who he posted it to?

I think if I was you I would ring trading standards and tell them the issue, hopefully they should be able to help or at least advise you on how to proceed.

If you ordered them in october then it is completely unacceptable for you to still be without the goods and he should refund the money.

I know he sells goods via Rally Design now so maybe you could ring them and see if they can get in contact with him or at least may be able to help.

Good luck.

Rich.

zilspeed - 19/1/06 at 04:17 PM

There's always a possibility that whoever received these goods isn't actually a member of locostbuilders...

ned - 19/1/06 at 04:18 PM

Scoop,

My apologies if you took my suggestions the wrong way.
I have had dealings with Darren in the past and won't be buying from him again, lets leave it at that.

Ned.

DarrenW - 19/1/06 at 04:25 PM

Scoop with that kind of attitude im not surprised you are waiting.

donut - 19/1/06 at 04:27 PM

Ned, it should be scoop appologising to you! You are only trying to help!!

Scoop i know your cross but we are only trying to help if we can and having a go at Ned is out of order. One thing you can gain from this is the knowledge that GTS are not worth bothering with.

[Edited on 19/1/06 by donut]

MikeR - 19/1/06 at 04:39 PM

I suspect scoop has just had enough. There are times when i'm at that stage and someone is telling me something i already know - but i'm still trying cause i'm at my witts end and have tried everything else..... well lets just say occasionally i know how to suck eggs.

Good luck trying to sort it out.

marktigere1 - 19/1/06 at 04:43 PM

Hi Scoop

So it seems you are at the bodywork stage.

Looked good when I saw it last year.

Good luck sorting the bodywork out.

Cheers

Mark

flak monkey - 19/1/06 at 04:57 PM

Oh dear... Darrens at it again... If only he could sort out his supply problems. His stuffs great quality, but it can be frustrating waiting for stuff!

David

scoop - 19/1/06 at 05:19 PM

Ned. Didnt mean to snap.
I am at my witts end. Buying from Darren has put me back at least 5 months on my build. I havent received a single order without problems. I can only think that it is the quality that takes me back to GTS 'cos i cant think of anything else
Mark mate. Yes have pushed on, come and see us again. How are you gettin on?

ch1ll1 - 19/1/06 at 05:46 PM

think every body was only trying to help you out mate !

i ordered parts 2 weeks ago from a firm (told me in stock)
sent payment (c/card) then 2 days later when the should of arrived got an e-mail saying it going to be enf of feb early march !
if id of known that i would of got them from else where !
its there fault, they need to sort it out !

could alwasy go cold calling on them !

nick205 - 19/1/06 at 05:51 PM

Scoop - When I have had problems like this (not with GTS, never used them myself) I usually find jumping in the car and turning up at peoples premises to ask the question face to face gets things moving. By this I certainly don't mean any kind of threat or violence whatsoever (I don't think I'd scare anybody anyway ) but speaking face to face often helps.

How far away are you from GTS, they're in Kent aren't they?

Cheers
Nick

ecosse - 19/1/06 at 06:35 PM

And I thought it was just me that was having problems with GTS

2 weeks now waiting (a minor wait by the looks of others problems) for a set of suspension brackets, no response via email, no one answering the phones, no response to voicemail left!
I take it from reading this that this is fairly normal from behaviour from GTS?

Scoop: I'm in Lanarkshire, Scotland, but please be assured I have not received your panels, although if I do I will surely let you know.

Cheers

Alex

caber - 19/1/06 at 06:55 PM

Lanacshire Scotland? God knows where they are then! it could be Lanarkshire which is in Scotland or Lancashire which I believe is in a country somewhere to the South of Scotland if that is what is on the package they are probably residing in some carriers warehouse!

Caber

trying to make light of a crappy situation!

scoop - 19/1/06 at 07:02 PM

Im at least 2 1/2 hours away or i would have been before now.
I like the sound of the financial penalty i think he would owe me money by now

scoop - 19/1/06 at 07:03 PM

Damn it i knew id spelt it wrong

jonbeedle - 19/1/06 at 09:24 PM

flak monkey - 19/1/06 at 10:05 PM

Not heard of anyone with fit problems.

GTS bodywork has a reputation of being some of the best fitting out there. Call Darren at Kit Car Builds (dont know their tel no off top of my head) and have a word with him. Sure he will help you out.

David

jeeby_man - 19/1/06 at 10:08 PM

I placed my first order with GTS at the begining of november, and it eventually arrived before christmas after quite abit of chasing. To say i was a little disapointed when i open the package was an understatement. Half the bits were missing, which i'm still waiting for.
i don't think i'll be using them again

scoop - 20/1/06 at 08:46 AM

So lets say i get my money back from Darren. Where do i get bodywork from in tangerine orange which is an inch higher to firstly match my nose cone and wings and secondly go over my pinto engine. Suggestions please
I think im shogged.

marktigere1 - 20/1/06 at 09:12 AM

Hi Scoop

I'm not getting on well at all.

Her indoors decided that we should relocate to Suffolk. We did that and found that the house we bought needed one hell of a lot of work doing. eg. bathroom, flooring and to top it all a new boiler (not the wife but a combi).

So from starting my build to nothing in a matter of months.

Its so frustrating. I've decided on what I'm going to build, I just have no cash to do it with.

I'm determined to start this year even if the kids go without shoes (Joking)

Glad your getting on. Your chassis looked great and the welding was superb.

Must find some time to come and see you again.

Cheers

Mark

NS Dev - 20/1/06 at 09:48 AM

Call me a cynic, but when I was researching which "kit" of bits to buy as a starter for 10 on my build, I seriously considered GTS, and spoke to darren about the possibility of a narrow de-dion setup to book track width which he confirmed as no problem.

After further research though, I came to the conclusion that a company that could not offer a picture of a finished car (at the time) only part built show items, was not worth considering....................

I still have not seen a finished GTS car??????

Anybody??

Sorry folks but go and speak to Marc Norden. I know that won't help those with bodywork issues, but MNR give a service which I cannot fault at all!!!

I ended up using Stuart Taylor bits, which are ready on time-ish and are cheap, but not all that nicely made.

If I had known about MNR at the time I bought my chassis etc they would have got the order.

Simple answer to save hassle for those who have yet to buy.......don't buy GTS!

andyharding - 20/1/06 at 10:10 AM

I had fit problems with GTS bodywork. And it isn't symmetrical. I've yet to see any GTS parts that I would call good quality.

ned - 20/1/06 at 11:34 AM

Sounds like you need luego velocity bodywork, its an inch or two taller at the nosecone and will fit a book chassis afaik. I'm sure they can accomodate your colour as I've seen an orange viento demo car in the past!
I nearly bought velocity bodywork but they couldn't do a bonnet without the bulge/vent and I wanted classic simple lines.

Hope this helps..

Ned.

scoop - 20/1/06 at 05:33 PM

Ned, thanks. Ill take some measurements from my nose cone and see what they can do.
Tried the Kitcar building company number and was told that Darren had broken down on the way to work. Went out shopping in Norwich all day, came back and guess what . . . nothing to suggest that he had tried to return my call.

jay taylor - 21/1/06 at 12:19 AM

scoop
i have just seen your problem and i am here to say i have the same problem with still not having parts from the kit i bought from darren but i have been waiting nearly 13 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is this a record do you think
i think it is the most expensive garden ornament i have ever bought ha ha ha
hopefully i will get through to him soon still trying with no success
i am even thinking about cold calling his workshop to see if this will get him to do something about it will keep you all posted
jay

Gav - 21/1/06 at 09:07 AM

Before christmas i couldnt get through to Darren other than an email.
However i rang on wednesday and he picked up the phone straight away.
If you have a problem just ring him, if he then dosnt sort it ring again and ask for a refund.

scoop - 21/1/06 at 09:44 AM

Rang his new business twice yesterday and got two bull sh*t stories from his staff as soon as they found out who i was. He didnt return either. Ive asked for a refund now. The frustration is making be very angry. So, there will probably be a nose cone for sale on hear soon.
Jay do me favour contact Trading standards will you cos i am. They dont uaually do anything until they get about four complaints. Steve

scotty g - 21/1/06 at 09:45 AM

I phone him on the workshop number and get through to someone nearly every time, its not always Darren but whoever it is always try's to be helpful.
My understanding (rightly or wrongly) is that they had tons of manufacturer issues last year and as a result have moved most of their production "in house" but they are now having to try and catch up with back orders, i went to the workshop last week and it mental busy.
Not making excuses for them, just thought i'd share what i know with you guys. Cheers.

jay taylor - 21/1/06 at 05:40 PM

i am now sorting out everything i need to give to trading standards hopefully they can help us both out. i see you live in the norwich area i am in norfolk. i will let you know how everything goes on.

Perhaps he is slow to pay the suppliers.

jonbeedle - 22/1/06 at 08:11 PM

Sounds to me like someone should send a copy of these posts to GTS. If they are aware of the fact that their customer service is rubbish and that ultimately it will lose them more business than it has already, perhaps they will become more customer orientated. From reading previous posts, as well as this one, it's a wonder they have any customers left. Anyone reading this is bound to be put off using them!
If there is anyone on here who knows Darren personally or who speaks to him regularly (I see there are one or two people who apparently have no touble getting hold of him) do the guy a favour and have a word before he goes out of business, which would be a shame as his stuff is good quality.
Cheers
Jon

scoop - 23/1/06 at 02:28 PM

Well, what can i say. Darren does actually exist (or thinking about it someone calling themselves Darren does). Took a call from him a little while ago and he says worst case senario should be with me on Friday. Ill let you know.

Interesting idea Jon but i recall a while ago that he read similar posts, concluded that everyone on this site was winging women (or words to that effect) and has never posted since. No comment required!

flak monkey - 23/1/06 at 06:21 PM

I emailed Darren (GTS) the links last night.

....................................STRANGE, I DON'T SEE MUCH WHINGING ABOUT MNR????

DarrenW - 23/1/06 at 07:48 PM

To be honest Nat you never see any whinging about any other manufacturer / supplier. Its a shame. Lesson learnt - a good engineer does not always make a good businessman.

NS Dev - 23/1/06 at 08:09 PM

Heh heh don't I know it!!! If they did I would have a business up and running now!!

I think that you may find that Darren of GTS has posted a couple of times as 'scooby-doo'... and probably as others too!....

Too late we've lost him.

scoop - 2/2/06 at 03:24 PM

Well after Darren rang and a small problem with post codes Business Post delivered new items (the others apparently lost). Three of the four corners had been torn open and the gel coat damaged. Darren has promised to replace these but with no time scale attached. He really doesnt want to return my money

rash - 2/2/06 at 06:22 PM

gts customer service dont make me laugh????????????????????

Triton - 2/2/06 at 10:38 PM

If the parcel was damaged in transit then it's covered on insurance so can be claimed back. Biz post will collect the damaged parts take a picture etc then a claim form is submitted....easy I have had to do this but only once I paid the fella back in full got paid out and managed to salvage the seat....It's now a computer chair at home

ned - 2/2/06 at 11:21 PM

with all due respect I have had similar issues in the past. Its not casting blame for the damage -its the way in which the situation is resolved that counts imho.

And anyway if 1 set has gone missing and 1 set has been damaged surely thats 2 sets darren can claim for off the courier company so providing more revenue for the extra sets made?!

Ned.

Gav - 3/2/06 at 01:13 PM

Mark,
Their are several things with my dealings with Darren that im sure could be improved on and have been metioned here many times and in my personal experinence neds comments are spot on.

Im sure Darren is working exceeding hard to overcome his problems to provide a better service for the furture and the tie in with rally design can only be a good thing.
However that dosn't make those of us who have and are still waiting an exceedingly long time for parts to be sent, feel any better about it.

splitrivet - 3/2/06 at 04:40 PM

Not wishing to get into GTS's customer service record argument but for everyone who should have a problem with a supplier in future just ring your credit card company tell them you are in dispute with a supplier tell them briefly whats happened and your card will be credited.

If you've paid by cash/cheque your on your own.

Some of the antics that Ive read of of suppliers on this forum are beyond belief.

Cheers,
Bob
