Vehicle wrap
simes43 - 20/1/06 at 08:56 PM

Anyone tried it?

I am thinking of having the nosecone, bonnet, scuttle etc wrapped instead of going the spray route as I want a two tone car.

A friend had this done recently

So this is presumeably vinyl which is applied to the bodywork. I used to do a bit of this a few years back, but not on such a large scale - van advertising mainly. You have to use a high quality 10 year vinyl and the job must be done in a warm workshop to ensure it is flexible.

How much was your friend charged? It might be a viable alternative to a full respray.

The Vodka Kick warehouse near us has some vehicles done like that, you can't tell it from a paint job but I bet it's not cheap.

I understand the complete job was nearly 2K. Alot, however, there is a high number of man hours involved. The exterior of the csl was taken apart, which is a multi hour job in itself, the wrap applied, then all put back together.

Although it shouts look at me and looks very trick, I am leaving mine in grey!

I hope that unattached panels will be around the same cost as a spray job for my locost, with the added benefit of no stone chips.

I will let you know how much I get quoted.

Another mate raced in the Seat championship a few years ago. One of the drivers secured Sun money and had the car wrapped in a different colour away from the standard issue grey.

Seat would not allow any other colours to be used.

10K and the Paper paid for it.
