Exhaust Heat Shield
The Doc - 26/1/06 at 09:07 PM

Hi Folks,
I see that heat shields over silencer cans are not so common now. Is this an SVA issue or can the whole system remain 'nude'?

Nude aint a problem as long as there are no radius problems.

PS Lolocost silencers are NOT SVA friendly!!! (but they ARE cheap - you pays your money etc...)

Only sharp edges apply (forward facing ones at that). The theory is that if you do run someone over, they will be in contact with the exhaust for such a short amount of time that it won't matter

Shiny, cheap and just about quiet enough for the SVA but don't expect them to "silence" anything for very long.
Mine (on a crossflow) sets car alarms off at a fair few feet away

Done just over a 1,000 miles with my lolocost silencer and it's noticably louder than when first fitted, just used a piece of edge trim on the suspect radius for SVA . Hasn't fallen off yet
