I fitted these common rubber catches to my lat Indy and they were not very good as 2 kept unclipping themselves. This time i want to make sure they are put on right so the question is:

The bottom 2 rivets for the bottompart of the catch, do they go in the top rail or just under?

I dont think it matters. Minew are under the rails. You have to start somwhere. What I did was mount the lowers bits then put them in the closed position against the bonnet and marked this point.

Then I moved the dots up (inch or so, cant remember really) This way when closed the rubbers are in tension. In theory keeping them locked and you bonnet on.

You can use the spec sheet, remember that they are slightly affected by temperature.
I did a mock u by screwing them to a bit of wood to get a feel and real measurements before fitting...

I did mine into the rail first and riveted them in, but the rivets wouldnt hold properly as the GRP and steel was too thick.

Just under seems ok, a mock up is a good idea, mine seem ok but still have got to see how time stretches the rubber.

What i was going to do was to fit them before putting the 1" wide foam tape on the top rail. This should take up any of the slack and keep them tight.

Good idea?

This is what i have done, the foam seems to give it enough spring to keep them tiight.
