i have searched for almost 30 min now, but to no result.
the book doesnt really cover how to build the scuttle in detail, so i wanted to ask you guys how am i supposed to build one?
the specific part i dont know how to build is that offset in the firewall where the bonnet is supposed to go on. the rest i know how to build, but how
do i do that part?
the problem is that i cant get GRP made ones because 1) i dunno where to get them apart from GTS and 2) it would have to be shipped to Spain, so
shipping would cost a fortune, and i will have to do this for the nosecone anyway.
thanks!
Tom
IIRC the book says to weld a strip on the front edge for the bonnet to rest upon. There isn't a recess on a totally book scuttle, just a shelf.
If you have to ship a nose cone why not buy a nose, bonnet and scuttle in GRP from MK Sportscars?
imo the bonnet is the easiest thing to do right? i mean, according to the book and other sources it's just ally sheet bent in a certain spot with
certain radius...
the thing about ordering the nose, bonnet and scuttle is that it would cost around 400-500 pounds incl. shipping?

welding aluminium ?
I was planning to bring the outerskin over the edge of the fire wall (with appropriate cut outs around the bend) and then bend it out again to
suppport the bonet
search for white pointer in austrailia. They had some scuttle and nose designs posted up. I got them years ago when TOL was in operation.
If you can't find them U2U me and i'll see if i can dig them out. Sure i saw the scuttle on here in the last few days as well.
obviously i'm not up for welding ally, so i guess i'll do the scuttle in steel. thin mild sheet steel.
white pointer in australia? do you mean google that or search in LB?
thanks!
found it whitepointer.com.au
its fibreglass though. got the measurements. thanks!
I made the firewall from 1.5mm steel and welded a strip of 12 x 3mm steel to it to form the bonnet ledge, just tack it at first and twist it square to
the firewall as you go along then stitch weld along the length.I made the outer skin from 1mm steel sheet and formed the front edge over the top of
the firewall and then finally sealed the edges with polyurethane sealant before painting.
