Hi all, not been around here for a while- anyway just a quick question;

Ive got this in the bottom of my garden, could i use the aluminum as suitable body panels? I'm sure Ron Chamption would have a field day!

The door may need a little modification to fit! Note the top half of the caravan is smooth and the bottom has ridges so probably can't use that.

I am assuming that is quite old - Aluminium age hardens so may well be quite brittle....

when I browse these pages at work (yes, I know I should be working) I have to be very careful when I open a post as some of the avitars are a bit too much for the workplace (DaveFJ), I have to trim down the explorer window to cut them out.

anyone else have this concern?

You can soften it up by applying heat (think it is called annealing (spelling?)). There is a way to tell that you have reached the correct temperature by using soap (turns black), and another technique using a wood batten but I am not sure on the details. I am sure someone on here will enlighten you. You would only need to soften the areas of the panels you intend to bend.

Evening all, Cheers for the replies (some rather off topic , but hey.) I'll rescue the ali when we get around to dismantling the caravan and see if its still good. Ill keep you posted. The main reason i thought it would be useful is that its straight, unlike cutting the side out of a van or roof from a car as i think people have done!

I've got my eyes on my parents caravan. Top bit for the alli panels and the bottom bit to make a trailer. A lot of it is bumpy but the top bit is sort of flat but curved. Hopefully can be straightened out.

Not sure about the avatars.. I do wish I could look on here without having to check over my shoulders first though!

Re avatars, we've been here before

We have fairly strict rules about this kind of thing at work. However I am against the censoring avatars unless they are realy pornographic.

Anyway, it's very easy to disable the rendering of pictures in your browser if you really feel you need to surf in work/lunch time. With firefox you can block the rendering of pictures on a per site basis.

Alternatively if your work surfing compulsion is really bad you could try ghostzilla.

Couldn't you just fit a couple of bike engines
