Painting Aluminum

What's the key to painting aluminum body work successfully ? Only I am coming round to the idea that a single colour all round will look better than polished ali and fibre glass bonnet arches etc.

The most important thing is to use the correct etch primer as the first coat, anything else will flake off.

A light scuff over just before painting will pay dividends as well.
If you scuff it and leave it too long it is as if you have not done it.
Scuff it and put some etch primer on as soon as possible.
Always scuff over previous coats before adding another coat of paint, except when using two pack or metalics.
