anyone know of a paint shop that is specialised in doing fibreglass in West Midlands. I am NOT after a concours finish by the way - just that the gel coat on my 550 Spyder replica is past it's best, so it needs spraying.

Depends where in the West Mids you are but you could do a lot worse than trying Garry Stevens (GS Customs) in Lower Broadheath, Worcester.

I got my Phoenix painted by C J Tallis in Hinckley for a very decent price. If i'm being particularly fussy then there are a couple of pin holes in the lacquer but considering the state of where i'd modified the bonnet and the price i'm happy. They are used to doing kit cars and fibreglass - I think they do the painting for Caterham Midlands.
