I just don't like the look of hard-top 7's - there are better small hard-tops around that look much nicer. For me, a 7 is basically an
open-top car that could, at a push, have a convertible top put on it.

I've always marvelled at Donkervoorts. Technologically they have really pushed the seven concept: windtunnel testing, lots and lots of circuit
testing; extensive use of every exotic material they can get their hand on. I think it was also the first seven that was slightly bigger.
Then they stopped selling kits and audi bought them. Now you can buy one for €65.000 in the Netherlands (150bhp). If you really want to treat yourself
and include some options and the 275bhp option the pricetag will go over €110.000.
I like sevens but for amounts of €65.000 or higher my wish lists doesn't include one.
Then they make some desisions I really cannot understand:
They had the most beautifull sumpguard I have ever seen: A full undertray made of carbon and kevlar. Nylon 'glide'rails were molded in. It
was formed to glide over objects and tested in a windtunnel for added downforce. I have seen the videos of them testing it under a breakyard astra.
They hit a metal pole sticking out of the ground (massive round 50mm) at 110km/h. They simply could not break the damn thing. Destroyed 4 cars in the
process but the sump held. Marvelous at only 8 kg. You start to believe in the combination of kevlar and carbon looking at that video.
But then they decided it was too expensive (€1500) so they went for another solutions:
They took a 8mm alu plate of 300mmx300mm. Made a bend in it and GLUED it to the sump. The bend is supposed to act to help glide over things. But the
only think carrying the impact and load is the sump.
As a techie I get physically upset by these solutions.....
it isn't the same for me.. ..
and i like it when people are creative only my opinion is that the prices are way to high.... for suchs a car, also i don't like this design its
way to Futureistic..to early for me... also the space should be very limited inside..atleast the feeling should be there that you are in a cage..

if we would pick the best 20people of this forum we can build the same stuff they build.
a seven is just to expensive above 45.000euro...
yes i know they need to pay for there NL prod. license, and yes they use brand new audi engines, and yes they chasis is laser cut and hard soldered
and yes they won't use donor stuff but 110.000Euro's..
is to much..
