kastrato - 17/4/07 at 06:36 PM

I want to take my aeroscreen off my car. It was glued with somekinf of glue on the car and was been supported my the mirrors screws.
I want to know if I remove it how can I get rid off the glue which been used to hold it?
My car is gel coated.

Withoutr stating the bleeding obvious, it does rather depend on what glue it is!
If it's a black PU stuff or if it's siliconyou may find that it peels off a bit at a time of he gel coat.
If it's araldite plastic specific ar evostick you might have a biggerr job on youy hands
Any pictures or more clues?

Not sure you car, but my original areoscreen was araldited to the alui, and once i bought a "proper" screen this glue would have looked awfull

i took most off with a stanley blade, and soaked the rest off using , cellulose thinners. as I did not want to ruin the alui

it seemed to work !

It is not black, it is a cream colour, I suppoce with silicon base. I will try post some pics when I get the chance.
I will try peel it with something but I was aiming to a product to do most of the job.

Thanks, I like it too.
Its a bog standard R1 modified with a bent tailpipe and 2" inlet.
Took the Fireblade through SVA and onto Donnington OK!!!

I got a used westfield scuttle that had loads of silicon on it and used screwfix silicon remover. Worked realy well and did not affect the gel coat

Don't know, but there is a (new) Screwfix trade counter in Huddersfield if it helps.
