What’s the best way to fit a windscreen into the windscreen surround? The book from uncle Ron says “seal it in with silicone bath sealant”.
The point is, glueing the windscreen in its surrounding is not a problem with special window –kit. But I think it would be hard to obtain from each
other when the screen is cracked. Or is “glass setting tape” better (when I can find such tape here in the Netherlands).
What would you guys recommend?
he is right - black silicon does the job
think you can get is specially for glass though - will check the tin when i get back or someone will beat me to it
you can get some small thin rubber 'p' section that you may be able to use on both sides of the glass into the frame.
leaves a nice bead all round.
hi there,

sell a rubber strip for the job for the job. I decided to use silicon one my first car but have opted for polythurethene pannel seal. It is real good
stuff sticks like nothing else.
Hi, used silicone for mine, cracked the screen later, (through my stupidity), and had no trouble getting the brocken one out. Just sliced the seal with a stanley knife, pulled out the busted one and put the new one in, again sealed with silicone. HTH Ray
Caterham sell a very nice U shaped bit of rubber... Cheap as chips from Caterham spares....
U shaped rubber give me a shout on the email and we can get some for your screen.
Not that I know anything about them
lol
Dankie meneer
Silicone it will be
Thanks guys for your response.
Greets Roy.
Iwouldn't use silicon, it's fine if the screen cracks but if it's a toughened screeen and it gets hit with astone then it willshatter and be a bugger to get out, use a rubber U channel.
