Windscreen What Angle??

Im making my windscreen support pillars, and am going to set the angle of screen to 22 degrees, is this correct??

I wouldn't mind to know, set mine to 20deg at the moment (needed to get a good fit).. I think catervans are set at about 22deg. I guess it depends on if you have a windscreen or are going to make one to fit. If you set a shallow angle you might have the top of the windscreen frame in you line of sight. A problem if you are tall and have a high-ish seat, etc etc..

I would guess a shallow angle will produce less wind resistance, just a thought?

Looking at the manual there is a (rather complicated) diagram in the demist chapter bizarrely enough showing how to measure the horizontal plane which then seems to be used to obtain the minimum height of the windscreen against angle.

Also you need to be able to see through it (doh ) which means the top surround mustn't sit in your eyeline, and glass must have 70%+ transmission (unless you have built an armoured car)

It also needs to be fitted securely.

Remember the glass needs to have the right symbols on it to prove it's pukka safety glass. These need to be applied/etched by the glass manufacturer.

Im sticking with 22 degrees. Looked at it today and it looks better then sitting at about 10 degrees that the scuttle shape is.

I have done the angle of projection measurements and my angle goes about 2" below the lower edge of the top rail.

Finding a rubber seal that goes between screen and scuttle on Thursday.

What is the windscreen for?






Is that the bit that helps you slow down faster and provides that correct amount of air vortex to make breathing difficult at certain speeds?
