hi guys i have been spraying my car over the weekend most things are cover in etch primer and primer and filler but when got to the front wings that i made myself from fiber glass the paint became all blotchy and wasnt sticking, i did sand the gel coat back with 320 grit paper but obviously didnt get rid of the wax.

Does anybody know how to get the arches completly free from wax is there any kind of panel wipe that cleans it all off ready for painting.

any ideas ??

brake cleaner?

sory forgot to say tried acetone and the standard thinners but will try brake cleaner not done that

my panals are being painted at the moment
the paint shop said they use something called bear grip (trade name)
when you sand down panals it sometimes has the release
agent just under the top coat
bear grip will let you paint stick to your panals

any idea where i could get it from when i do a search it comes up with all sorts of other things but what it needed

you cannot beat using the stuff designed for the job.

Use brake cleaner for cleaning brakes
Use carb cleaner for...
Use panel wipe for....

The secret is in the name

Have you tried good old fairy liquid? It might seem stupid but it does take pollish/wax etc off paintwork.

Ì have used a product called "Adherence promoter" (Maybe bad translation) to make primer stick to plastics, I used it after a complete washdown with degreaser and a few minutes of sun light

sorted just had to rub down a bit more looking good now thanks all
