Does anyone manufacture an alum. nose?

Caterham Cars did aluminium nose and arches as an option some years ago ,not sure if they still do ,but it was serious money.

Making an ali nose would be a great excuse to make an english wheel though!

Trouble for most of us this side of the pond theKafer is that we have garages made to store a Morris Minor in and putting an Englich Wheeling machine in there would fill the chuffin' things up! Still, if I ever get a big enough garage (or a workshop) I'll be after one as well.

A friend of mine built an english wheel w/ 24" throat 24" tall. Fits in a vice post!

It's only 2" wide

It's plenty big for any thing I would do.Stores under a work bench.

He bought the anvils off ebay.

Are plans available?

mlgates - 17/9/03 at 08:34 PM

I'm thinking of giving it a go. I've been lurking in the "metalshapers" group on google. That fourm is chauk full of information on alum. forming, english wheel, and power hammer use. I think that there are plans for wheeling machine in the files section. Also check out www.metalshapers.org

Just weighing my options: build forming equipment, then attempt some bodywork or buy it. (probably expensive)

I really would like an all alum. body.

There are plans on a web site I think it was called tinman.com?

I would by the anvils though,I would'nt want to subject my little lathe to 4130.

Buy them first and then design your own frame around them.
