Wider Taller Scuttle

Progress is very slow, but I have finally finished making my scuttle for my +4 chassis. I've also made it about 2inches taller than the book, to try and cover the RV8 lump (I'll still need a bonnet bulge though!).

It looked quite straight forward to make in the book, but I must say I struggled!!
I made a couple of minor cock-ups but should be able to cover these up with filler etc when I paint it.

Early stage of construction:

Shaping the rear support (I used a couple of temporary supports on the corners which I cut off once finished):

Bending the outer shell around the frame:

Finished scuttle from the rear:

Finished scuttle from the front:

I started to fully weld the outer edge, but it started to pull out of shape! Do I just need to take more care (do an inch at a time and then let it cool down) or will fully welding the edges cause it to bend?

Your scuttle isn't intended to be a structural member is it?

In which case I wouldn't bother fully welding it.

Just 'spot' weld as car manufacturers would!
