Windscreen

Getting close to wiring the car and fitting the scuttle for thr last time...I am however concerned about fitting the screen later. Do the side supports only bolt through the glassfibre...Can't see how this would be strong enough or do they tie into the chassis somehow?

thanks

Normally they attach just to the scuttle side.
It is worth checking how thick the glass fibre is there though. A Se7en screen is almost vertical so at speed that's quite a force of air slamming into the screen...

You might need to re-inforce the area. An ali or steel plate would do the trick.

Personally I re-inforced the area by laying up 2 layers of 300gm GRP matt with a sandwich layer or carbon fibre tows layed up in a mesh / grid pattern. Ain't going nowhere now...

If you're going to fit windscreen wipers it's also worth re-inforcing the scuttle where the rocker boxes attach. I didn't initially and got horrible flexing of the scuttle top when the wipers were active. Some more 300gm GRP quickly fixed that though

Know what you mean, it's always concerned me that at high speed you're gonna end up with a face full of windscreen!

Cheers,
