Hi ..
just picking brains here...
but if i go to Fleabay and hunt down a car paint polishing device ... which one should i bid on or buy now?? ... :p
cheers allllllll...............
or the mops themselves id suggest the Ferecla ones sold in body shops. Buy new.
Ref the polisher itself ive used a Makita one before and it was ace. Lots of care needed.
Angle grinder can be used if you dont mind burnt paint and silver bits on the edges and corners. (Joke before i get flamed - dont use as too fast)
I have used them in the past, to be honest I'd rather do it by hand as unless you’re really really careful with the mop you'll go right
through the paint or remove it from the edges. They are only any use on big cars with plain panels and certainly not a 7.
I have decided from now on to use a lacquer finish on my cars as it is a lot less work and easier to get a mirror finish plus it polished up quicker.
i got on on ebay last year £40 inc p&p its silverline 900-3000 rpm i have used it about 40-50 times and would say it is as good as my old one (
MAKITA i droped and broke) i love g10

item no: 350024858314 bought this... put in a bid for £50 and it was accepted so paid right then n
there....linky
probably not the best deal around but its in the post ... :
buy g10 and do your own car i cant say this tooo much lots of water never never let it dry out it will burn the pain in a blink of the eye and give
you lots of polishing circles on your car just keep it wet but not that wet you wash the polish away.
(looks like it will do the job and lets face it you not going to use it evry day.)

Ive always started with G3 but its quite rough. Unless on large panels probs not to use it. Take more time with G10 or consult ferecla website for
better advice. Their products are rather good and not too expensive.
Lots of water and let tool do the work - dont press on. No idea how to use on gel coat finish.
Edit to add - G3 isnt mad rough in a 1200 et and dry sense. Just rougher that T-cut. Leaves a dull matt finish that will easily come up in a good
gloss with G10. There are other grades ad products available.

I would of bought a PortaCable or the new Meguairs G220, not as harsh as a makita etc so will allow "mistakes".
As for compounds I use 3M, Megs (80 & 83) and Menz products.
I find G3 & G10 very harsh and leaves swirls in the paintwork which then needs the lighter (megs 80/83) to remove them.
