Alan

the plaster style plug method how exactly
do you seal the surface ?

after you have the shape do you skim a coat of body filler over the top
or is it just loads of coats of paint.

i'm geting to the body stage on my over sized beast so any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Tim,

At first I did use body filler all over, but it is slow, messy and expensive. I now use the while plaster sanded as smooth and true as possible then I use a primer/sealer called Kilz (I'm sure there is an equivalent in the UK). I put around 10 coats on, let it harden up, then wet sand to a final finish.

The important thing is that the final surface is hard enough to take a polish finish and seals the water (from sanding) out of the plaster.

my site describes how I made my plug / bucks.

I used car body filler everywhere I needed a profile.

After sanding I used some plain old WATER BASED wood varnish to seal the surface.

It worked great. Not a hint of sticking.

Dont worry. Hippy has to type fast and in a terse manner as his carer will be back in the room to tighten his straps in a minute or two

Ps - your fan belt seems to be running a bit slack..... try varnishing it

Tim,

I'm not sure about the registration process, it varies greatly from one state to another.....like any system, there will be ways around it, but I'm not sure what....He is in the best place to find out, actually being there.....
