Need a taller nosecone.........suggestions please!
Mad Scientist - 28/11/03 at 06:48 PM

Hi there!

I need a taller nosecone for my book chassis. I bought a Robin Hood Lolocost one in the early stages of my build but its not tall enough. I need it to be about 9 inches above the top rails to clear my Crossflow. I can't lower the engine anymore as the sump only has 4 inches clearance now! Does anyone make a taller cone?

Cheers.

Can't you just raise the nosecone to the desired height? It's what most of us have done when using a Pinto in a book chassis

Suppose so. Has anyone got any pictures of how to fill the gap between chassis rail and nosecone?

Hi,

Simple, Luego velocity nosecone, approx. 245mm, 9.5" above top chassis rails. Excellent quality piece of fibreglass.

Im sure someone will be able to point out a supplier of a taller nosecone, but its simple to extend the height by slitting it along its length and filling in the required extension to produce a plug for a new mould (although some people dont want the hassle) not a big job though.

So is the Velocity the same width as the book chassis? It would be ideal if thats the case.

a velocity is a book sized chassis, only it has taller bodywork to accomodate taller engines and has IRS at the back.

Surely you could lop a bit off the sump and go for not such a tall nose?

Mad Scientist - 1/12/03 at 06:27 PM

Why? Do you think it will look pants?

Mark Allanson - 1/12/03 at 08:49 PM

You are going to have to chop your sump in any case

Aren't GTS tuning doing taller fibreglass for their de-deon chassis.

I'd call Darren and ask him, or wait probably be replying in a mo.
