Afternoon All,

This may be the wrong section to ask this question and if it is, I do apologise.

My question is, is there a cheap/free computer tool available for sketching in bodywork ideas onto a photograph?

For example, if I have a side view photograph of a rolling chassis is there some way of drawing in a body for it directly onto the photograph?

I'm sure it can be done with some cad programmes and maybe photoshop but it's definitely locost that I'm after.

Any ideas?

I just use a photocopier, you can set it to mega faint. Then just scan it into the computer. I hate trying to draw with a mouse, it sucks

Download GIMP. It's akin to photoshop, but free. You can then load your photograph in. Then add a "layer". you can draw on this layer without affecting the photograph below, and you can then hide layers to see just the photo, just the drawing, or both.

Most photoshop type programs come with a facility to draw onto the photograph, what you need is 'layers'. If the prog has layers then you can usually view them independently.

I've got a limited version of photoshop which came free with a scanner I had years ago, but some digital cameras have similar software that can do this

The advantage to using photo software is that you can zoom in and out, which can be quite handy if you are sketching a tricky bit
