Afternoon all

Well seeing we've been bleesed with fantstic weather today and I'm kicking why heels waiting for VOSA I thought I'd make some progress on my badges ready for attachment post SVA.

They're made of aluminium and will be painted. Any ideas for good adhesive to stick the various pieces together once they're painted?

I'm not keen on superglue as it tends to whiten any paint the fumes come into contact with. Ultimately it would be good to be able to easily remove any glue that may seep out from under the upper plate and will be visible.

Any ideas much appreciated

I'ts not to stick the badge to the car it's to stick the three layers of the badge together, each layer will be smaller than the one below and a different colour.

so really it needs to be a liquid adhesive that's fairly easy to control when putting it on as some of the pieces are pretty small.

I have found evostick will react with cellulose paint..... but won't matter unless you remove the stuck on item.

super glue isn't very good with rain anyway.

I'd mix up a thin epoxy and use small sponge to apply it, by dabbing it on

I've done some experimentation with gluing aliminium. If the surface is well abraded epoxy works very nicely.

I cut a matchstick size bit of 3mm ali and glued half of it to the underside of a bit of thick ali sheet (with the remainder hanging over the edge). I attached some string to the stick (at the edge of the sheet) and hung weights of it until it unstuck. The contact area was all of 15mm*2mm and yet it took 6kg before unsticking.

When I tried to do the same with technowelded ali my thick ali sheet bent

3M double sided adhesive tape will stick those nicely. We use it at work to bond stainless and ally fascia panels together (permanently). It's approx 0.1mm thick so you'll never see the join either.

Make sure the parts are good and de-greased first then cut small pieces to suit the shapes or use a knife to cut around the profile of the badge sections.

spray carpet glue or if you can heat it wonderweb!

I've used loctite 330 in the past, seems to work well but not cheap.

Pro car spayer I knew used a hot glue gun for that stuff, I reckon it's what I would use too

what about using double sided tape you can get some very strong adhesive ones

One advantage of the hot glue is the easy removabilty ( if you ever need to) by careful application of heat

you could alway use badge tape - I cannot imagine what it was originally designed for
