car cover for trailer
jabbahutt - 10/10/08 at 12:46 PM

Afternoon all

After several bits of sage advice about using car covers whilst you car is on a trailer and the resulting scratches and scuffs caused whilst it is moving.

Any ideas how to cover my car on a trailer that won't scratch and generally bugger it up as apparently the weather forecast for when my SVA is is pretty wet and I don't think a hot tub will pass

Or any clever ideas as to how to use a car cover so it doesn't cause any damage.(one idea was to tape some bubble wrap to the panels and then fit the coverover the top) could leave the bubble wrap fitted to aid in no sharp edges for SVA

Thanks
Nigel

Why put a cover on it?

When it's finished and SVA'd and registered will you put a cover on to drive it?

In my view a cover on a car on a trailer presents more risk than reward.

simply put a blanket or cotton sheet over the car then strap on the waterproof covering.

Or, you can dismantle it, put it into the transit and reassemble it there

+1 for the cotton sheets. My first car went for a 200mile trip just like that and not a scratch to the burgundy gelcoat (which really showed them up). Car cover over the top of this and then plenty of ratchet straps etc to stop it flapping about.

PS no thats not my chauffeur driven car in the background!! My Roller is out of shot!!
