A friend notified me of this advertisment: Westfield body kit.

Will this fit to a locost? The locost chassis will be as per the book, with a Xflow engine.

What would be a reasonable price? Current bids are up to € 450,- which is approx GBP 360,-

The Westfield bodywork shown is from one off the earlier cars known as the the narrow body.

The locost book chassis is a copy of the later Westfield chassis which is wider and longer in the seating area by 3" or 75mm. It would not be a direct fit but could be modified to fit.

From you reply I understand that I needs to cut it open and laminate pieces in between. Maybe messing with the curves, so the result might not be that good.

Do you think it is worth the hassle?

The alternative is ordering cycle wings, wheel arches and a nosecone from a UK supplier, and make up the other pieces in ali.

It looks a bit of a mess. Is it worth it? I would be very surprised if you could use the rear end/rear arches at all. Would your pipes be in the same place? what is the second hole in the side? damage?? all in all I think you are much better going for aluminium panels and buying other GRP parts that you know will fit.

i dont think there much more expensive than that new are they. your problem is postage though isnt it you need someone close to you i brought a full set of mac1 panels with aeroscreen carbon dash lights and mirrors (all in good condition) for £140 this summer of ebay just to give you a idea

I ordered two seats from Triton the other day. Transport to the Netherlands was GBP 45,-.

I hope transport for some cycle wings, wheel arches and a nose cone will cost max around GBP 75,-?

What is the best place to get the bodywork anyway?

Would it be a direct fit, it would give me a running start when I get to the bodywork.

With some luck I might be getting the set for arond GBP 250,-

Considering the amount of work hours it'll take that doesn't sound much of a bargain considering how much (or little) a full GRP body set (new) costs.

contact Alan. He has bodywork of extremely high quality and I think would be worth it for you. I have a rear exterior panel from him that is perfect.

Trying to make things fit, that don't really, has caused me no end of frustration, time and ultimately, money. You want to build a car, not reinvent the wheel as it were. It seems like a wee bit of a price difference, but in the grand scheme of things will not amount to a hill of beans in the overall costs.
