seat belt mounting..

I know seat belts have probably been done to death. but done a search and cannot find the answer..

In the SVA manual it shows the seat belt height, which I can follow no prob's
140mm from the block to the effective mounting height

It's the width I want to double check.
It seems to show min width from the centre of the seat to the mounting as 140mm minimum,
Making min of 280mm min width between the straps.
Can anyone confirm for me that I have understood it correctly

Cheers David

Not the lower mountings,
The upper ones.

I have made the roll bar according to the Haynes manual. In there the mountings are set at 254mm apart.
If I have understood correctly then major fug up.
coz the roll bar is all finished and painted ready to fit.

It's at least 450mm above the reference point for the height. As far as lateral position is concerned, the 140mm is for a 3-point diagonal belt, not a harness. For a harness they just need to be spaced such that they don't slip off the shoulders. Yours sound fine.

Part 5, para 10 (c) is what you're referring to. as stated above, it relates to diagonal seatbelts.

However, the regs only state that the mount must be 140mm from the centre of each seat. that does not necessarily mean that the two mounts must be 280mm apart.

By way of example, here are the seatbelt molunts in my Cobra (Pilgrim Sumo) - this is a standard position which has passed the SVA on many occasions. The mounts are 140mm from the mid point of each seat but not 280mm apart.
