3mm strip of RHS? - Poll
Im still thinking about my new front end
Im not sure whether to buy some 3mm strip to for the basic structure or use some of my leftover 3/4" RHS.
The RHS woudl be heavier but would mean i could hide the rivets on the inside and it would obviously be stronger.
The 3mm strip would be easier to bend and be lighter but all the rivets would be on show and would not be as strong.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I would say rhs, as the strip will flex, i had soo much flex ihad to reinforce it.
Originally i had about 8 points secured by 50 * 3mm strip and it just wobbled!
I used pu foam behind the outer skin, to make the fibre glass section stronger, then overlaid fibre glass to make the sturcture stiff. Worked well!

With such a huge front end I would opt for RHS because it will give you a more rigid construction (like turbodisplay-darren says)

just realised i've used rhs to hold some of my bodywork, it's surprising how heavy big bits of fibreglass can be
