gts bodywork

Has anyone got the measurements of the gts nosecone and scuttle?

Could someone tell me the length of edge sitting on the chassis and the width at the front and rear of this edge.

cheers

Lars,
I'm expecting my GTS bits any day now and will post results as soon as I can. Email me to remind me if you don't hear back from me.
Cheers,
Craig.

cheers, will do.

did you order the normal size bodywork, because aren't you building a wider chassis?

Yeah, unfortunately when Darren(GTS) asked for 6 firm orders for +4" bodywork on which to base the initial production run, nobody except me came forward...
At that point I had already ordered a standard width kit but Darren held my order pending the outcome of the +4" stuff. When that fell through I asked him to go ahead and just send me standard bodywork which I will widen myself.

It's a hell of a shame to be honest as I'm going to have to cut it all in half!

I tried my best to U2U and email people who I knew were building +4" cars at the time but many of them have already made their own arrangements either by building their own bodywork or modifying standard stuff like me. If I had had a complete list of everyone on the forum who is building a +4" car then I might have been able to canvas enough support. It's probably not too late even now although obviously I'm now stuck with standard bodywork myself.

Anyway, as soon as my bodywork arrives I'll let you know.
Cheers,
Craig.

There was a poll about chassis size a while ago. Can't find it now, but IIRC the +4 accounted for a third or so of all builds.

Pent-up demand if I ever heard of it!!

Pete,
Yes that's why I'm so frustrated that GTS couldn't find the measly 6 orders they were looking for to start a new set of moulds. I think GTS are probably equally surprised to be fair.

I think the problem is that many builders tend to plan from day to day rather than looking farther ahead. Again to be fair, some people are on very tight budgets and perhaps have limited space to store parts they don't need yet. However, if anyone reading this is likely to need +4" bodywork in the next 6 months then you should (IMHO) get your order in with GTS now and make the +4" bodywork happen. It will still take GTS around 8 weeks to supply the bits once the orders are in so you have plenty of time to prepare for delivery. Even if you are still early on in your chassis build it is still highly advantageous to have the bodywork bits to hand to ensure that you are building a chassis which is compatible with the bodywork dimensions.

Cheers,
Craig.

Whoever's 1st with the +4 ought to do fairly well.

If I were the new fiberglass guy, I'd open with a nosecone and follow up shortly with a scuttle.

Sort of a cool thing to have for +4 cars would be rounded series 1 style fenders, er, wheel arches, because the wheels are so close to the chassis sides.

Not that I'm trying to influence anybody
