handbrake lever heel

I'm about to trim my handbrake lever. I'v noticed that the sierra lever has a "sharp" heel at the back which will be contactable through the handbrake lever gaiter. Will I need to cover this somehow for SVA. How have other people done this to Sierra Handbrake Levers?

Again, it shouldn't be a problem at SVA. However, in the interests of comfort and to ensure it's SVA compliant, use some of that sponge pipe lagging around the top edge.

It makes it nice and comfortable for resting your elbow on whilst driving
