Locating pins?
I need to firm up the join between my clamshell sections and the main body.
I thought about inserting some conical (so they tighten as they close) locating pins (almost like bonnet pins) which stop the panels from flapping
around.
Any one have a clue where to start looking?

Did you ever find (locate) any bonnet locating pins? Blind ones (i.e. locating, but not locking)
The Westfield site only includes them in a larger kit (as far as I can tell).
I've looked in the normal places.

IIRC the Truimph Herald, Spitfire , GT6 and Vitesse all had conical locating pins. Rimmers might be worth a call?

The only ones I found were so expensive at £20 each I sort of lost interest

Triumphs used a separate latch on each side of the bonnet the cones aligned the bonnet

Thanks for the triumph rubber cone idea. You can get them a bit cheaper on e-bay.
Not really what I want, as I want these to oppose the lateral forces, and I already have some 8mm holes for this on some hand-me-down bodywork.
I guess I will have to make a pair myself by trimming down a stainless bolt of the required size.
The closest I could find were sidescreen peg/socket fittings, but not quite right for me. Interesting site though!

made mine from an m6 or m8 bolt, and trimmed the unwanted thread and head off in a lathe, then locktighted a half nut in the right place... not fallen
out yet
