Polishing Kit
Hi all,
Just wondering what you polishers reckon I need to bring up some light scratching from an alloy scuttle cover. I could get away with leving it, but
it would look better polished up.
Also, Ill probably take the time to do the manifold too.
Would a sisal mop be too rough? What colour cutting/polish bar do I need?
Just having a look at kits and theres such choice.
Thanks and rgds

I can't remember what we used on the manifold but i felt it was a waste of time a few good runs and now its golden not shiny like it used to be
so was a big waste of time in my mind looked good for first 10 mins but.

How scratched is it and how good a finish are you looking for?
I guess it is largely hidden buy the bonnet usually. Might be worth getting a tub of Maguirres all metal plysh from Halfords (£7.99) and give that a
go. I did some dull grey looking ali trims and they came up great after not a lot of work. Of course scratches are harder to get rid of but you may be
able to live with them.

Try using something like 400 wet and dry used wet to start with and then 800, 1200 and then 1500 followed by metal polish . Have to agree Maguirres is
the dogs dangly bits .

Yeh thats another option. Its not depply scratched or anything and wont be seen, its just dull from where stuff has been sat on it etc.
I thought a wizzy mop would have it looking better in no time

As you say a wizzie mop may make it shine quickly but they tend to throw any excess polish all over the place . I find it quicker to polish by hand.
