Fuel Tank

I'm thinking about fabricating my own plastic fuel tank, i know the material is suitable, but is there any issues with doing this?

Nope, as long as it doesn't leak. My Indy has one of their plastic tanks in it, and doesn't leak. Supposed to be marginally safer due to being able to deform more than metal ones too.

So was the bloke who made the leaking MK tanks! But he sold a dodgy set of rods I think. Either way, certainly acceptable.

i thought MK were metal fabricators? i know where your coming from thou, but we know are stuff cause when we are doing tanks for 25,000 litres of 96% Sulphuric Acid we can't make mistakes,

If mine works out ok might offer this service if people want one as i could do any size.

There's two MK's. One's MK Engieering, the other MK Sports Cars. Used to e owned by two brothers I think. Certainly sounds like you know you're stuff, so if you can give some form of guarantee, people'll be interested. Most would rather pay a little extra for something that won't go wrong, or if it does, there's something that can be done. Rather than just buying something on the hope it works, from an unknown bloke.

Ah i see, as for the guarantee, i'm sure i could come up with something, replacement or money back.

What sort of pressure does the tank get with injection systems?
as our usual procedure is to pressure test to 2.5 times pressure.

It shouldn't see much more than atmospheric. All the pressure lines are after the injection pump. Before that, it's just the main low pressure feed. It would probably see negative pressure if anything due to fuel loss from the tank and the volume not being replaced with air.

I do try. As will everyone on here. You only need to ask. We've even been challenged as a web forum to answer any questions posed, and managed to find answer to everything so far!
