Prepping metal panels for painting
Any tips on how to prep the shiny metal panels for painting? Im guessing they will need well keyed then a good highbuild primer used to cover the
scores on the metal?
Any tips appreciated on technique and products to use (eg etch primer etc).
Thanks

I normally key the surface with a Scotchbrite pad before applying a good coat of etch primer.

Depends to an extent what metal... Are you talking ali side panels, or stainless... etc etc.... Acid etch is often a good ploy especially on ali.. but
it's nasty stuff.

I'd recommend Upoxy Super*Etch etch primer. It comes with an activator which you mix 1:1 with the primer and then apply. It dries quickly and is
easy to sand. Best bit is that it sticks to steel, ally, stainless, GRP and just about anything else like $h1t to a blanket!
Cheers,
Craig.
