Body fixing to chassis
Hi,
I am in the process of fixing my body to the chassis. What is the best way of doing it and any photos would be appreciated.

I'll be interested to see replies to this as I'm at that point too. I was thinking rivnuts with repair washers (large diameter in relation
to hole) and Sikaflex PU sealer / adhesive (assuming it's not going to come off again)

I sika'd everything on mine apart from the floor and two bolts on each side of the scuttle and 4 on each rear wheel arch.
No rivets anywhere (apart from the floor).
Pat...
No trees were killed in the sending of this message.
However a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

PU and rivets! the panels should provide additional stiffness to the main tub. I have no intention of taking them off again! Not finally decided on
tunnel top as I would like this to be hidden fixings. I have some plastic panel fixings and some snap fastners as used on the soft bits, any one have
other suggesions as to how I can do this?

Velcro ?
Saw a car last weekend that had side trim (arm rests as it were ) velcroed to the top rail Looked really good.
Edit to clarify:
I meant use velcro to attach tunnel panels and other smaller bits, not the main bodywork panels

PU adhesive only. No rivets required. There should be a few pictures on our website.

As your build say's Locost I assume that you are fitting alloy panels. Trial fit them first and drill for all the rivets, hold the panels in
place with "clico's" or similar in the first few holes. Remove panels, clean of all drill burrs, inject some "Waxoyl"
into a few of the holes, which will stop the swarf from the drilling rusting your chassis from the inside. Apply your chosen fixative, I used bath
sealant as a fixative and as a barrier between the alloy and the steel, and rivet on the panel. HTH Ray

Er..I was referring to the nose cone, shuttle and bonnet not the alloy ones...sorry for being un-clear

I reckon rivnuts are the way to go for the nose and scuttle with bally great washers to spread the load as much as possible.
