Radiator grille

The standard grille is little more than 40mm horizontal wire slats.
I really want to have something a bit more robust and capable of stopping stones puncturing the rad.
I've looked at options such as wire mesh, plastic sheet etc. etc. Have tried the usual suspects - Wickes, B&Q for alternatives without success.
I really want something 20mm squared but with a bit of body to it.
What have you used?
Cheers, Pewe

shopping trolley - just fish one out of the canal.

you can biy stainless steel mesh from 2 companies but I donlt have detials, onky snag is they sell in 1 m square bits but will do a vast variety of mess size and wire diameter.

I used a bit of mesh from a Max Powa style shop for the SVA, but then removed it and just used the standard MK laser cut grill since.

3500 miles and no holes in the rad yet.

Be aware that the more metal in the grill = less airflow into the rad = higher engine and under bonnet temps.

I used a piece of 2" square galvanised weld mesh. It came out of a skip.

It was tested too. I hit a bird at about 40mph. The grill bent but the radiator survived - unfortunately the Kestrel didn't
